RGB installation for Blackpool Lightpool
RGB is a series of three large scale figurative light sculptures made entirely from discarded electronic waste and powered by solar energy.
The work was exhibited as part of Lightpool Festival, forming part of Blackpool’s world famous illuminations and one of the UK’s largest contemporary light art programmes.
Each figure represents the three primary colours of the digital world, Red, Green, and Blue, which are the building blocks of all screens and digital imagery. Constructed from broken phones, circuit boards, and obsolete technology, the sculptures transform e waste into glowing human forms that shift from solid, textured objects by day to illuminated presences by night.
RGB explores our relationship with technology, energy, and consumption, while reflecting on sustainability and the afterlife of the devices we leave behind.
